Elisabeth Littell Frech Strotmann, LL.M., M.A., B.A.
State certified and duly sworn translator for English, sworn in by the President of the District Court Frankfurt am Main (Staatlich geprüfte Übersetzerin und vom Präsidenten des Landgerichts Frankfurt am Main allgemein ermächtigte Übersetzerin der englischen Sprache).
I was born in August 1976 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and raised bilingually (mother American, father German). Upon completion of my Abitur at the Augustiner Gymnasium in Friedberg, Germany, in 1996, I studied for five years at different universities in the U.S.A. (University of Colorado in Colorado Springs (B.A. in Distributed Studies with majors in German and French) and Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (Germanics) and was in the Reserve Officers Training Corps of the United States Army. In 2004, I completed my M.A. at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (Germanics, Romance Languages and History).
Subsequently, in May 2005, I passed the exam to be a State Certified Translator (staatlich geprüfte Übersetzerin) for English (and German), with an area of expertise in law. In January 2011, I completed my LL.M. in Business Law at the German Graduate School of Management and Law in Heilbronn in order to compliment my native English skills with sound and specialized legal knowledge.
From 2002 until 2012 I was employed at several international large law firms in Berlin, Frankfurt, Zurich and London. I also worked as a free-lance translator for various law firms and companies. Since 2012, I have been exclusively self-employed as a translator, proof reader and language teacher in the area of law and work for renowned law firms, notarial offices, chambers of commerce, federal agencies, higher courts, and companies.
